As neurologists, our physicians are highly trained to treat disorders of the nervous system, which include diseases of the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles. Some of the more common problems that neurologists diagnose and treat are strokes, epilepsy (seizures), headaches, dementias (Alzheimer's disease), multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, and various forms of pain. Neurologists may serve as consultants to other physicians and may provide long-term care to patients with chronic neurological disorders.

Raja B. Boutros, M.D.
NEUROLOGY AND CLINICAL NEUROPHYSIOLOGY
Dr. Boutros is a Diplomate of the American Board of (Psychiatry) and Neurology. He completed his internship in internal medicine, residency in neurology, and fellowship in clinical neurophysiology at the University of Southern California of Medicine, in Los Angeles. He was awarded his medical degree from McGill University, in Montreal, Canada.
Dr. Boutros was a scholarship recipient throughout his undergraduate college education. He is a member of the following medical associations:

- Hippocampal MRI Volumetry - comparison of methods and applications to temporal lobe epilepsy
- Vagal nerve stimulations as a treatment for epilepsy

Charles R. Smith, M.D.
Dr. Smith has many years of experience in the medical field since attaining
his medical degree from the University
of Toronto. After completing his internship and residency in internal
medicine at Toronto Western Hospital, he began his career in neurology as a
resident neurologist at Toronto General Hospital. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of (Psychiatry) and
Neurology and has held numerous prominent positions in the field. He was an
attending physician at several major New York area hospitals and was an assistant
professor in the Department of Neurology at Albert Einstein College of
Medicine. Dr. Smith is an Active Member of the American Academy of Neurology.
At Bronx Lebanon
Hospital Center, Dr. Smith held the directorship of the:
- Primary Stroke Center (NYS-Accredited),
- Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and
- Department of Neurology.
Dr. Smith has conducted extensive research in neurology and neurological
rehabilitation, particularly on the topic of multiple sclerosis. His
writings on these subjects and others have appeared in books, journals, and
other publications for professionals and the public. He was twice included
in "The Best Doctors in New York" by New York Magazine, and could be found in
editions of How to Find the Best Doctors, New York Metro Area
starting in 1997.
